LTC’s approach to Risk Management is unique to the
long-term care industry. Our combination of focused program
content, education delivery methods and proven quality control
expertise from other industries allows participants to experience
immediate and tangible benefits in the areas of liability
risk exposure and actual liability losses.
Our mission is to ultimately reduce
the liability losses our members experience. This is primarily achieved through
effective training in preventing and detecting such losses.
The model is straightforward – to educate and train
our members in preventing “incidents” from ever
happening. And in the event that incidents do occur, our members
will be trained in the most effective way of containing and
correcting the issues.
Much of our approach has been borrowed from an unlikely
source – the manufacturing industry. Manufacturers have
dealt aggressively, and successfully, with the issues of quality
assurance for over 50 years. The model has been applied to
many other industries with great success. In its simplest
form, the approach includes the following elements:
- Prevention
How to stop problems (at their root-cause)
from ever occurring
- Detection
Using measurements and data to monitor and
detect problems before they occur
- Correction
How to contain and immediately correct problems
that do occur
It has been proven that for every dollar spent on prevention
and detection, organizations can save
hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars
in correction (including insurance claims, litigation
expenses, fines, etc.), in addition to improving their overall
resident care.
LTC’s Online Learning Center & Reference
Library applies the concept of “Prevention,
Detection &
Correction” to the long-term care
industry in a practical manner.
Members will receive education and training
that is immediately applicable and
that focuses on areas of highest
risk. The programs offered are designed
for all
levels of staff within a long-term
care facility, especially the front
line, hands-on staff members that are
most responsible for
resident care. Additionally, members
will have access to proven policies
and procedures and a forum for exchanging
best practices
with your peers.
